Credit Resolutions Officer

Location: Bartlesville, OK

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for collecting on delinquent Credit Union accounts and for counseling members to avoid future delinquencies; and for minimizing losses to the Credit Union.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


May include any and/or all of the following:

  1. Actively listen and respond to member inquiries, suggestions, requests, and concerns.
  2. Process, perform, and dispose of repossessions in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  3. Correspond with the United States Bankruptcy court, Court Trustee, and member’s attorney by providing the essential documents required by the court to legally protect the Credit Union’s collateral and financial interests in bankruptcy situations.
  4. Report charged off and Non-Sufficient Fund accounts that are not bankruptcy related to our third party collectors, Midwest Service Bureau and CU Recovery.
  5. Evaluate delinquent accounts to determine and instigate the appropriate action, i.e. correspondence, phone call, “in person” collecting, attorney involvement, or repossession, and document all action.
  6. Work with the Credit Union’s legal consultants to provide data and prepare necessary documents required for legal action against delinquent members.
  7. Use available tools to diligently search, skiptrace for members with whom the credit union has lost contact.
  8. Follow procedural guidelines to make transfers, post payments, apply liens and offsets on delinquent loans and negative share accounts.
  9. Compile credit bureau research and electronically confirm or modify disputed reports.
  10. Successfully complete all applicable compliance training and testing.
  11. Serve as administrator for the check-by-phone service.
  12. Administer and collect on negative Courtesy Pay accounts. Ensure optimal recoveries by working closely with Member Service personnel assigned to this task.
  13. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

· Knowledge of:

      • Modern office equipment and ten-key
      • Repossession laws and bankruptcy procedures
      • Credit Union products and services
      • Credit Union operations, procedures, and systems, and current marketing promotions
      • Technology and various software programs
  • Ability to:
      • Read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form
      • Organize and prioritize in order to meet deadlines
      • Solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations
      • Write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before members and employees
  • Skill in:
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with members and co-employees
      • Typing and personal computer

Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job required.

REQUIREMENTS

Regular attendance and timeliness are essential functions of this position. While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for a significant period of time and perform functions that require manual dexterity. The employee must occasionally reach above or below normal body position, stoop or bend, and carry, lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. A normal range of hearing, vision, and speech are required to effectively work with co-employees and members.

Follows regulatory and policy compliance requirements, which include those efforts in compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Regulations, Identity Theft Red Flags and other compliance related Policies. This position also requires maintaining confidentiality with regard to non-public information about our members and the Credit Union.
