Mortgage Specialist

Department: Mortgage Operations
Location: Bartlesville, OK

JOB SUMMARY

This position enters data, compiles, reviews, and verifies documents for mortgage loan files. This function works directly with a small Operations team and members of the Mortgage Sales and Development team to process, close and fund mortgage loan transactions. This role is also assigned to additional duties within the department outside of production.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

May include any and/or all of the following:

  1. Actively listen to and respond to member inquiries, suggestions, requests, and concerns.
  2. Support the Sales and Development Department to ensure that we are providing effective communication, and timely processing of mortgage files. This is including, but not limited to, ensuring necessary updated information is received timely.
  3. Knowledge of documenting and calculating basic types of income to meet GSE requirements.
  4. Perform necessary quality checks on all documents. Ensuring efficient and compliant loans are being put on the books and sold to relevant GSEs.
  5. Work with relevant 3rd Party staff to ensure timely and effective communications and document processing is performed.
  6. Assist market team leads & seniors in preparing, reviewing, and submitting all final loan documents, within regulatory guidelines to close loan transactions and maintain compliance by submitting documentation to relative 3rd parties.
  7. Complete transactions needed within both the mortgage operations and sales departments. This includes, but is not limited to payment of invoices, cutting checks from Symitar, GL transfers, wires, member draws, etc.
  8. Monitoring of monthly and annual reports, such as HMDA and relocation billing, making corrections when necessary and submitting to government agencies as needed.
  9. Organize and research proper documentation and perform verifications as needed within AllRegs.
  10. Ensure appropriate document retention policies are strictly adhered to.
  11. Complete necessary training and compliance courses timely.
  12. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

· Knowledge of:

      • Mortgage Lending functions including policies, practices, and standards
      • Modern office equipment
      • Credit Union operations, procedures, products, services, philosophies, practices, and systems
      • Technology and various software programs including Mortgage Cadence, Symitar, Microsoft Suite Products, Synergy, FICS, and Mercury Network.
  • Ability to:
      • Read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form
      • Organize and prioritize in order to meet deadlines
      • Write reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before members and employees.
      • Cross sell for the benefit of the member
      • Educate effectively on processes

QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Testing:

Participate in webinars provided by Mortgage Cadence, Freddie Mac, ARCH, MGIC, Enact MI, and Cornerstone

Education and experience equivalent to:

Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job required.

REQUIREMENTS

Regular attendance and timeliness are essential functions of this position. While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for a significant period of time and perform functions that require manual dexterity. The employee must occasionally reach above or below normal body position, stoop or bend, and carry, lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. A normal range of hearing, vision, and speech are required to effectively work with co-employees and members.

Follows regulatory and policy compliance requirements, which include those efforts in compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Regulations, Identity Theft Red Flags and other compliance related Policies. This position also requires maintaining confidentiality with regard to non-public information about our members and the Credit Union.
